| | This week I returned to the ICC mosque for Jummah. For the most part, the khutbahs here are mild and short. Just how I like them. Yeah, so read on.

NO OR
| Today I attended the jummah khutbah at the long standing Masjid - e - Noor, literally translated as "The Mosque of Divine Light". A mosque with such a name should be spewing insight and wisdom from every conceivable orifice...
Or so one would think...
|
| | I attended the University of Chicago's MSA Jummah Khutbah and I must say, they still have a pretty clean record.
The khutbah is as follows:
|
| | Salam folks!
I apologize for the delay in getting this to you all, I know you had been eagerly awaiting this week's critique. So let's just jump into it. I went to the Downtown Islamic Center for Jummah on Friday. It was all right, I guess.
|
| | Assalamu Alaikum and Eid Mubarak everyone!
I hope you all are enjoying the festivities, I don't really know what I mean when I say "festivities", I guess we meet, greet, and eat on Eid, sounds like a good plan. Anyway, today I went to ICC for Jummah, and the khutbah was really nice. What? Don't believe me? Read for yourself!
|
| | So check, check, check it out...
I went to IFS for Jummah today, I had been meaning to do this a long time ago, but never had the opportunity until today. You see, IFS and I go back a ways, but not as far back as MCC and MEC and I go. Oh, if only they knew...
Anyway, I have to say, I was expecting a nonsensical khutbah of similar quality to those of MCC, but... God is good and He gave me a break and let me listen to something actually worth listening to.
|
| | Today I attended the Jummah khutbah at MCC, Muslim Chicago Center. Now, I have written about this mosque before, but today was just another experience amongst many that really reinforced the thought, "Wow... the people that come to this mosque are really ignorant."
But let's discuss the khutbah first, keep reading below for a summary of the khutbah.
|
| | Assalamau Alaikum everyone.
How have you all been? Have you missed me? I missed you.
I sincerely apologize for the brief intermission between my posts. I will attempt to be more regular and hope to provide you all with quality reading material.
Let's begin with this week's Jummah khutbah. I attended Friday services at the Downtown Islamic Center located on State St.
|
| | I returned to the ICC basement mosque for another khutbah today. I will start off by saying that it was for the most part a very good khutbah, there was one thing I didn't agree with, not because that is my actual opinion but because the khateeb didn't back up what he said appropriately and basically insulted the jama'at's intelligence (indirectly of course).
|
| | Back in quiet Naperville, I returned once again to the Al Hilal Mosque for Jummah prayer.
Before I begin the khutbah, I will rant. Why do people think it's necessary to drive 40 mph in a parking lot full of people walking from their cars to the mosque? Do they think they will achieve goodness in the eyes of God for hurrying to the mosque at the risk of another's life? I say this because I almost got hit walking from my car to the pavement, a mere 50 foot distance. Some young punk thought it appropriate to needle his way through groups of people, unfortunately for myself, walking alone didn't make me as visible to the driver as did a group of five or six. I should have followed that kid to where he parked and let him know. But, knowing people these days, criticism is a very hard pill to swallow, even if it's justified.
