MEC

I returned to MEC today for their Jummah Khutbah. I never like going here, but I am an optimist and really want people to succeed, even if they tend to be the obstacles to their own success. Today's khutbah is proof of that. The khutbah is transcribed below for your enjoyment.

Salam fellow Chicagoans (and everyone else). So... for some reason, the MCC Web Administrators don't like to update their site with the Jummah prayer timings, that's a bad thing. You guys should update it, people can show up at 2pm thinking there is a Jummah prayer going on, haha, fortunately, that didn't happen to me, so we good... For now.

Let's jump right into the khutbah, shall we?

MEC

Salam folks.

Jummah today was one Jummah I have never experienced. I should also say that I am grateful that I have not experienced this before and pray I don't experience this again.

Want to know what the Jummah was like? Go ahead and read the brief summation of the khutbah below, then be ready for the commentary that follows.

I apologize for the lack of updates to the site. Life has been busy. Insha'Allah, I plan on being more consistent with updating the content of the site, I have recruited several writers as well. You will soon be able to read their articles and posts. But in the meantime, allow me to share with you notes from a khutbah I attended before Ramadan started.

MEC

I attended Jummah Prayer at MEC in Morton Grove today. I always hear about some really ridiculous khutbahs that take place here. I even hear about people, getting up after the khateeb has concluded the prayer, who start denouncing him and whatever he discussed. I guess that makes me very lucky.

Today's khutbah at MEC was an interesting one.

The khateeb, an older Arab man, began the khutbah by informing us that he changed the topic of his khutbah last minute due to some recent news he heard about a killing in France. The man who was charged with the murders was a Muslim named Mohamed.

MEC

Today's Khutbah was exceptionally good.

I went to MEC (Muslim Education Center) in Morton Grove, IL. I was so early that I was actually late for the first Jamaat. So I stuck around for the second Jamaat. Was I glad I did too!
